Ways to Improve the Speed of Wi-fi

  • Use Wi-fi Extenders

Have you ever noticed slow wifi signals even though you have placed your router perfectly? In large multistory buildings, dead zone occurs frequently. At that time we need wi-fi extenders.

How do wifi extenders work? They receive wi-fi signals from your router, boost them, and expand your wi-fi coverage. Linksys extenders are also good to go. They are very popular nowadays.

  • Avoid Electronic Interference

Speeding up your wi-fi by moving away from electronic devices like microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and so on. Less interference of these devices leads to better speed.

  • Router Placement

Finding the right spot for your router is important. Walls, floors, and furniture can impact wi-fi speed. It’s better to place your router close to the center of your house like in open areas away from electronic devices. Don’t place your router on the floor as it spreads wifi signals downwards.

  • Antenna Position

If your router has adjustable antennas, optimize their position. Place your antennas one vertically and the other horizontally. For routers with a single external antenna, you can try various positions to find the optimal setup. Adjusting antennas can significantly enhance signal strength and network stability.

  • Protection

Securing your wi-fi with a password is important for protecting against hackers and preventing unauthorized usage by neighbors. Choose WPA2 as the encryption method.

  • Regular Router and Modem Reboots

Reboot your router and modem regularly. Over time, continuous operation can lead to issues like slow wi-fi speed, page loading problems, video freezing, and music interruptions. A simple reboot refreshes the router’s memory and facilitates updates.
